There's something about a track day that never gets old. The nervous and excited energy in the paddock and two little racers pulling on their helmets like they mean business.
Our latest outing was a special one. We headed to VIP Motocross to celebrate Lando and Albie's birthday a bit of fun at the weekend, nothing more. No pressure, no expectations. Just good people, great vibes, and two kids who we thought would enjoy the experience.
What we didn't anticipate was the pace.
Neither of us saw it coming from either of them. Surrounded by friends and a lot of the Racing Rascals team, something just clicked. The confidence was there. The commitment was there, watching Maddison and Lando go genuinely go was one of those moments that stops you in your tracks. You look at each other and think: where did that come from?
Maddison seemed to have the slight edge on the day, which was brilliant to see but honestly, both of them were flying. It's a reminder of how much they've quietly been developing. The progress had been building in the background, and it took a relaxed, fun-filled day surrounded by the right people for it all to come out. That environment friends, family, the RR team rallying around them clearly made all the difference.
Staying the Course
Our goals haven't changed. No pressure, no rush just steady, consistent building. And moments like this are proof that the approach is working. Maddison and Lando are growing in confidence at their own pace, and that's exactly how it should be.
We're not getting ahead of ourselves. The focus stays the same enjoy it, develop, and let the results follow naturally.
Eyes on Round 2 — Mallor-E Park
Next up is Round 2 at Mallor-E Park, and we're heading there in good spirits. No added pressure just two riders who are finding their feet and loving every minute of it.
